Future of RIM (Blackberry)

Research In Motion, also known as the company who does anything and everything blackberry related, is trying to get back into the smartphone game with its new line of phones. There are five new devices coming out, but to the general public eye, it’s basically two revamped models. First is the blackberry bold, which is your typical blackberry, big screen followed by a keyboard below. The difference is that the bold will have a touchscreen this time, which is a nice improvement over the ball technology. I believe touchscreens are easier to utilize and they can be used by everyone, even your kids. The next line is the blackberry torch, which is essentially a touchscreen phone which has a slide out keyboard for easier use of email and texting.

Both of these phones look really promising, as both have blackberry 7’s operating system, which offers an improved browser, voice activated searches and more apps, which is always a good thing. Although, the blackberry app market is still less than the android and Apple markets, they still have a lot of the same apps. Plus, who really needs some of these apps anyway, which are two of the same thing sometimes, or are just stupid. Plus, these phones are coming out on AT&T’s new 4g network, and these will be some of the first ones, although it does lag behind the Motorola Atrix, the HP veer, and the HTC Inspire, these phones should help RIM gain at least some traction back in the smartphone market.
