Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO
PeterWalk
Steve Jobs, the CEO and face of Apple computers over the past decade has resigned as CEO, effective immediately. While this is not exactly Jobs leaving the company for something else, it still is a major announcement. Plus, Jobs is still going to be the Chairman of the Board, so he’s not exactly going anywhere. This does and does not come as a shocking announcement to myself, as Jobs has not been as noticeable as he has been in the past, due to his various illnesses and such. But, whenever a big company like Apple loses its CEO suddenly, it’s big news. Jobs is being replaced by the COO of Apple, Tim Cook, which isn’t a big deal, as Cook has taken over for Jobs whenever Jobs did go on medical leave in the past, and the two of them work together a lot.
So, with Cook in the fold, should we expect anything really fundamentally different from Apple, the hippest tech company over the past decade in terms of money making or bringing out the new “must-have” item? No, as things should run just as smoothly as before.
