Back in November, six Estonian nationals were arrested with charges of fraud through what the FBI called Operation Ghost Click. They’re accused of infecting computers worldwide with DNS Changer, malware that makes the computers vulnerable to viruses. You can read more on this story here. Now, why are we bringing this up some 5 months later?
According to the FBI some 350,000 computers could still be infected, with approximately 85,000 of those being in the U.S. alone. The FBI had set up “clean” servers so those with contaminated computers could access the internet, and those servers will be shut down on July 9. After that point, anyone still infected will not be able to access the internet.
