Security Bulletin: Java

BeckyStrause

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security put out a warning regarding security vulnerabilities with Java. “Unless it is absolutely necessary to run Java in web browsers, disable it,” the Department of Homeland Security’s Computer Emergency Readiness Team said on Monday in a posting on its website.

Oracle, the software maker, issued an update on Sunday, but security experts are saying Java may still be vulnerable.

Eberly Systems is suggesting the following options:

  • Make sure you are running an active and updated anti-virus program.
  • Get the most updated version of Java. You can go here to download the newest version.
  • If you don’t need to run Java, disable it.  Oracle has instructions on doing that on the Java site.

If you have any concerns about this warning, or need assistance with any of the options suggested, don’t hesitate to contact us.  We can assist you with making certain your systems are as secure as possible.
